Greetings to you,
A rocky road it’s been since I last wrote to you all. It’s pouring rain outside right now. I hope that everyone collecting sap from maple sugar trees has good lids on their buckets! It’s the time of year, apparently, for spring rains, muddy driveways, and maple sugaring.
We aren’t tapping any maple trees this year. I crave drinking some of the sweet water. Our lives are in tiny house mode. Our living room has become a paint shop. Most of our recent socializing has been while painting for the tiny house, while receiving a basswood and ash delivery for the tiny house, and at least one while needing to take a break from the tiny houseJ.
The well-known phrase “Build a House-Lose a Spouse” is one I’ve talked about a few times this past month. Not that I am about to lose a spouse but the building process is trying! We know at least one friend who truly did lose a spouse while building a house. Apparently, “Therapists rank relationship stress from remodeling somewhere between infidelity and meddling mother-in-laws.” So many decisions to be made and so many ways of accomplishing one’s goals. I worked with a lawyer this month to form the LLC for our business and felt the word “harmony” had to be in it so that we keep coming back to that focus time and again.
Challenges and joys, side by side. Earlier this month, we had a lot of fun preparing care packages with hand-painted watercolor cards, local cherry wood carved spoons, and rose petals, all crafted by us. Each package (these would make awesome birthday gifts, too) included the following poem and I just felt like sharing it again:
All this Time
The sun never says to the earth,
With a love like that,
It lights the
It is sweet to watch our efforts to grow For Now Tiny Homes starting to take off. We are continuing to build relationships that we hope to build on for years. We always love making new connections so if there is anyone you think we should know, please let us know! Getting active on social media (Facebook and Instagram…) challenges me! I joked that my time there to promote our business may just result in my getting in touch with old boyfriends and it is looking like I may be right:) ha ha!
The current tiny house build is cruising along. Beautiful cedar siding is covering two walls now. All of the windows and the front door are in place and I’m happy that Jon remembered to put the shower inside before the front door went on! If you want to hear a funny story about a shower that wouldn’t fit through the door, ask me. We are super excited about the beautiful local basswood paneling we just got delivered along with the local ash flooring. Gorgeous! This lovely unit is for sale.
We welcome visitors so please reach out to us to set up an appointment if you would like to visit.
Our email program was having some difficulties while I created this post so I wasn't able to add some photos. Please check out our website for some new photos, including Jon in his safety gear.
We thank you for your time, love, and support.
